Abortion - is it just too Easy to say are you going to Keep it?

This little boy is my grandson at 15 weeks gestation (as in this photo ) but current UK law does not recognise babies as viable beings before 24 weeks - which is also the legal limit for abortion. According to government stats, 190,406 babies were aborted in England & Wales in 2016 and surely that begs the question, 'should we all be being more mindful'?

To put that into some perspective, 525,000 people  died of old age or disease in the same year in England & Wales.  So you begin to see that an additional c200,000 baby terminations is really rather a lot. The majority of these babies were aborted before 13 weeks whilst around 1,500 were aborted at 22 weeks or over. Only 3,208 babies out of the total were aborted due to fetal abnormality. 98% were NHS funded. 81% of the women were single & the biggest group were around 22 years of age. 40% were repeaters, having had one or more previous abortions.  Almost 5000 women came from abroad.

You can read the full report online @ The Office of National Statistics. It makes uncomfortable reading & I would imagine most folk are unaware of it and that really is my point - complacency & lack of awareness. If it wasn't quite so easy to have an abortion would we all be more mindful? Is it just too easy to say 'are you going to keep it'?
